LANAP is a patented therapy, utilizing a Nd:YAG laser, at a 1064 wavelength, for treatment of periodontitis (gum disease). This minimally invasive surgical procedure has FDA approval.
Dr. Timko is the only board certified periodontist in Pittsburgh to be certified in LANAP. This approach is ideal for patients who have a fear associated with conventional surgery, becasue LANAP involves no incisions with a scalpel, no sutures, and less post-opertive discomfort. Less time in the dental chair, less gum recession, and faster post-operative recovery are other benefits of LANAP.

This laser is not a magic wand, there is still no cure for periodontal disease. Conventional flap surgery is always offered as an option to our patients, and in some cases it will still be the best option.
